Social Emotional Learning

Social Emotional Learning At A Glance

WeMentor 360 utilizes Social Emotional Learning strategies to empower and inspire youth to find their voice. As mentors, we model these skills and share our personal stories and challenges, in order to create a community where students are able to engage in deeply personal and relevant conversations. Due to the trauma that many of the students have experienced, they often come to the program with a lack of self-confidence. Through the programs, they learn how to stand tall with their eyes up, understanding that their past doesn’t dictate who they will become.

WeMentor 360 creates a safe place to build social emotional capacity and resilience. It is our hope and goal that the young people we work with will gain confidence and a sense of belonging and connection in life, school, and with their peers.

From Our Mentees

"This program has changed me a lot because in elementary I was a very shy and quiet person. But now I have confidence in myself and I don’t care about what people have to say about me. Polish is important to me because I have nobody to talk to at home and they treat me like family."

- Aniyah

"I came to Polish because my self esteem was majorly low and my confidence was gone. Then, when I joined Polish, my whole demeanor changed. I was better at school and my attitude changed. Polish helped me express my true feelings."

- Aianah

"This program has changed me a lot. It changed the way I talked. It changed the way I see other people. It helped me realize that just because people look happy doesn't mean they are happy. It changed the way I talk to adults such as teachers and my parents."
